Buspar Generic

Buspirone, which is widely known by its trade name Buspar, is an anxiolytic psychotropic drug of the azapirone chemical class. Primarily used for treating generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), this drug is not related to benzodiazepines or barbiturates, which are dominant in most anxiety relief medications. This results in Buspar not being physically addictive. Also, other symptoms known to appear with other drugs are not happening to Buspar users.

What is Buspar Generic?

Buspar is a medication used for treating anxiety symptoms long-termly and for the short-term symptoms relief. This medication is especially effective for persons who suffer generalized anxiety of a limited or moderate degree. However, it is not considered very effective for severe anxiety, panic disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorders. Buspar might also help improve symptoms of depression for users suffering generalized anxiety disorder.

Buspirone was patented in 1975 and gained FDA approval in 1986. As the patent expired in 2001, Buspirone (Buspar) is only available as generic drug nowadays.

Is Buspar Generic Good Substitute to Buspar?

Each generic medication has to undergo tests in order to compare them with original brand-name medication. FDA (The U.S. Food and Drug Administration) decides on the generic medication equivalency and assigns rating. AB rating is the one that proves generic to be the same as brand-named medication. All generic Buspar available on the market is AB rated.

Even though they both have the same effect, it is possible and allowed for generic medication to have different inactive ingredients. This also includes fillers, dyes, or other ingredients, which are inappropriate for sensitive people or those with allergies.
